Seasonal Speech on a Slippery Slope

If you want to hear authentic communication at its best, stand on a street corner on a hill covered with snow and ice.  This is where I’ve spent the last week, as I live three-quarters of the way up just such a street.

“Whoaaaa…. no, no, NOOO”

“Get outta the street, you TOOL… I’m sliding sideways!!!!”

“Hey, we just clocked that IDIOT snowboarder at 18 MPH! ”

“The handle just came off my G#*!$&! snow shovel!”

It’s raw, unprocessed. Boy, is it ever authentic. And if you listen carefully as the snow falls silently, you also hear some beautiful things. Equally authentic:

“Do you need some help?”

“I’m from Michigan, I have an extra shovel. Keep it as long as you need it”

“Once you hit that curb, you’ll turn in the right direction, and then keep ‘er straight! I’ll watch til you get down”

“Come inside for a cup of coffee, and you can call your family”

May you wake to find your slippery slope bare and dry. Stay safe. And try to use your authentic communication for good!

Happy Holidays!

I absolutely love this post. It is so true of LIFE through an even larger lens.

To quote Sting’s Love is the Seventh Wave:

“All the Angels, All the Devils, All around us, can’t you see?”
